So, before you dive into a tin of your favourite Tint, think how your new colour scheme will flow through the house. If the bedroom, bathroom and living room take a maximalist approach, ask yourself if that’s something you want to continue into the kitchen. Or maybe the opposite – if the walls in your house are bright, fresh and light, should you try and make that work in the kitchen? Remember – there are no rules – so do what works best for you (and we’ll support you all the way).

To bring joy into your space, you can experiment with playful colours, dabble in some warm tones or go for a more neutral approach with some barely-there hues for something more timeless. If you’re the proud owner of dark, vintage-style appliances (oven, stove, fridge), the shade you choose to throw on your cabinets or walls can either make your appliances stand out or disappear – and it all depends on the look you’re going for. Maybe your kitchen is filled with sparkly state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances – or a mix of both. If you’re starting from scratch with a full-on kitchen makeover then go wild and match the appliances to your walls… or the walls to your appliances. There’s no right or wrong answer whatever way you go, but it’s worth thinking about before giving your kitchen some lovin’.
