Busy Mum Bec Bulley booked me in via our website for a virtual appointment because she was planning a renovation for her 1940’s, 3 bedroom brick and weatherboard home in coastal Wollongong NSW. Like any savvy renovator she wanted to have a plan ready to go to make all those little decisions clearer.

Bec wasn’t really sure what she was after so this was incredibly exciting as it was so much easier to put together a cohesive look before all the big decisions have been made. Bec was an open book — her only conditions were that her partner is not a fan of dark colours and she wanted it to feel light and bright. With ocean views and a young family, my way forward was clear.

I assembled a Modern Coastal palette with the crisp white of a fresh beach towel in - So fresh and So Clean, the soft beige sand tones in - Fika, the sky and aqua marine tones in beautiful - Inner Self, the soft greys of coastal foliage in - Grey Matter and the black tones of old iron fencing in - Do Not Disturb for Bec to pick up on in accents.

Bec’s beautiful house had plenty of different aspects so in her colour guide I specified colours based on their use and and their orientation to make sure every room would feel not too hot and not too cold, just right in their light.

I added some extra fun in her Daughter and Son’s room by choosing slightly darker colours in a half wall so not only would Hubby be happy but those half walls will hide little fingerprints and scuffs.

Bec was very happy with the suggestions and after delivering her colour guide and mood boards we worked together to choose a slightly different colour for her Son’s room so everyone in the family would be happy.

Bec is going into her renovation with clear ideas of how to achieve the looks we’ve planned and we can’t wait to see how it turns out!
