Interview: Hayley Worley of The Sheet Society
We recently partnered with our favourite bedroom brand The Sheet Society to bring you seven of their signature hues in (you guessed it) paint form! Hayley Worley is the Founder, Designer and Head Hustler of TSS — she recently Tinted her own bedroom and we couldn't be more in love with the result. Cozy, calm and featuring a super cute pup. Read on to get that 'fresh sheets and tinted walls' feeling, and to hear from Hayley about the collab and how she styled her room with TSS and Tint.
Q. Tell us a bit about your background and how you came to be the Queen of Cozy (if we may), that you are today.
A. Haha, I’m pretty stoked with that title! I’ve got a background in fashion, but fell out of love with clothes. I wanted to still be involved with fabrics and colours so I dreamt up a business where you could put together your bed like an outfit. We spend a lot of time in bed and it's the focal point of any bedroom, so it needs to be a reflection of your personal style.
Q. You guys have really made it fun to shop sheets! We can relate; taking the pain out of paint. What do you think makes people fall in love with your brand and the whole concept?
A. We like to think that people either fall in love with our brand because it looks better, or because it performs better. I think it’s really important to have the perfect mix of both. Further to that, our products are designed to perform better, made from natural fabrics with extra design features like an invisible zipper on our Quilt Cover and a built in folded back top edge on our Flat Sheet.
The colours and fabrics that we use are trend driven — so you won’t see them anywhere else.
Q. The colours of your sheets are gorgeous. We are in love with the palette and are so excited to have created a Sheet Society Tint collection for you guys. Talk us through your colour choices for the brand and what these hues mean to you.
A. Whilst we really love colour, it can be awful when colours don’t match. All of our sheets are designed to mix and match so it’s really important that the colours we select all go together perfectly. When we dreamed up this collab with Tint, we thought it’s just the perfect partnership as we already know these colours are perfect for mixing and matching!
We’ve chosen tones with a muted, neutral base; that means all of the paired back shades which are pretty much foolproof when it comes to styling!
Q. You mentioned to us not long ago how these colours are like your babies and how hard it was to choose only 7 as part of your Tint palette. That in mind… which are your favourites and why?
A. They sure are - I feel such a strong connection to each of them! We decided to go with our best selling colours, so that took a lot of the emotion out of the decision.

I wanted to include our best selling neutral tones — 'Dove Grey' and 'Beige', as they’re proof that cool and warm tones can look really great together. We were inspired by an interior colour for our 'Rose' hue so it's great to see it come to life again. I am a huge fan of our 'Moss' green tone too, which is just the right amount of paired back green without feeling too overwhelming.
Q. Let’s talk about this room revamp! How did you come up with the look and what are some tips you can give people who are wanting to create a beautifully styled space in their own home (without breaking the bank).
A. Neutrals are the new monochrome, so I really wanted to bring our 'Beige' into my bedroom. We’ve recently renovated our ensuite with grey tones in the tiles so I wanted to bring a little more warmth into the bedroom. I’ve loved styling with this colour on my bed as a foundation for building a mix and match bed, so knew that this neutral tone would be as easy to style as our sheets are!
I loved the process with Tint. From not having choice-paralysis to not having to worry about lugging paint to the car. It all turned up at my door and the toolkit had everything I needed.
Q. Would you call yourself a DIY newbie or a Michelangelo in the making? How did you find the whole paint process and what advice can you give other people wanting to try their hand at repainting their space.
A. Our bedroom is the last room in our house to renovate so I’d say by now I'm a pretty seasoned painter! It drives my husband crazy as I think I'm good enough to paint the skirting boards without masking tape… Haha!

I absolutely loved the process with Tint, from not having choice paralysis by the huge wall of colour swatches at Bunnings, to not having to worry about lugging it to the car or feeling like a sharp turn could mean spilt paint all over my car boot! The paint I ordered from Tint turned up on my door and the toolkit had everything in it I needed (I even loved using the masking tape!)

I was also really surprised at the coverage of the paint and was almost lazy enough to stop after just one coat but pushed through and with two coats the colour is just perfect.
Hope you enjoyed that and are feeling fab and inspired to get rolling!
