6 painting tips for a pro finish

30 June 2020

1. Never skip prep – however tempting it may be

“A stitch in time saves nine” has never been more relevant. Cleaning and preparing your surface does take time, but the effort you put in now will save you double that later on.

  • Clear your space (more room to move and less to cover)
  • Lay down drop sheets (it’s much easier than removing drips later)
  • Sand down bumps, cracks, and loose paint (a smooth surface = a smooth finish)
  • Wipe down walls with a light soapy solution, rinse, and let dry
  • Tape up fittings, edges, and corners for clean, sharp lines

2. Use premium quality paint (AKA Tint paint)

Quality makes a massive difference. Better paint means better coverage, fewer coats, and less time spent painting.

Low odour lets you get back to using your space sooner, and low VOC means fewer harmful emissions. Premium paint is also more durable and easier to clean—saving you time and effort in the long run.

3. Use the good tools

Saving money on tools can cost you more in the long run. High-quality tools make your job faster, smoother, and deliver a better finish.

Tint accessories are designed to work perfectly with Tint paint—helping you get professional results with less effort.

4. Grab an extension pole (the most underrated tool of all!)

An extension pole makes painting easier and quicker. It helps you maintain an even finish across your space and reduces the need for bending—saving your back and your time.

5. Use your tool bag to cover your paint tray

Taking a break? No problem—but dried paint is.

Use your tool bag to cover your paint tray and tools whenever you pause. This keeps everything fresh and ready to use, prevents clumps, and makes cleanup much easier when you’re done.

6. Work from top to bottom

Don’t undo your hard work by dripping ceiling paint onto freshly painted walls.

Always paint from top to bottom—start with ceilings, move to walls, and finish with trim for the best result.
